You will learn how to communicate and support children with disabilities or special educational needs and how to prepare and maintain learning environments appropriate to the childʼs needs. The course helps you to develop a range of skills and techniques, as well as personal qualities and attributes essential for a career that involves working with children. The College has a dedicated Childcare Teaching Environment, featuring modern equipment and facilities. In addition, all of the staff teaching this course are dedicated vocational childcare professionals.

You will learn about working with children in a variety of settings and understand Equality and Diversity within a childcare setting. You will learn about the stages and sequence of child development and study health, well-being, legislation and play.

Childcare (CACHE) is assessed through coursework, professional discussions and an assessment in the workplace. The Level 2 course requires a minimum of 250 hours of work placement. The Level 3 course requires a minimum of 400 hours of work placement.

The Level 3 qualification provides license to practice in a Child Care setting. There are a range of careers in this field including Practitioner in Day Nursery, Nursery Practitioner, Nursery Support Worker, Practitioner in Reception classes in Primary Schools, Pre-School Worker and home based Child Carer.

The course helps you to develop a range of skills and techniques, as well as personal qualities and attributes essential for a career that involves working with children. This course covers child development from conception to seven years. It also explores childrensʼ health and wellbeing, along with providing a safe environment for children to develop in. You will undertake a work placement and put your learning into practice.
