If you have a genuine interest in all aspects of Sport (practical and theoretical), these courses are for you as they will help to develop your knowledge and understanding of the industry and prepare you for further study or employment. The Sport Department at Sir George Monoux Sixth Form College prides itself on the interactive delivery of lessons, the type of assessments that students complete and the opportunities that students have to develop the skills they need to be successful in the sports industry. Students develop a range of skills throughout the course leading to the planning and running of a successful sports event for a local primary school. In addition, students have free gym membership to a state of the art £1,000,000 gym and the opportunity to take part in a range of enrichment activities including representing the College in sport teams.

At this level you will study Fitness For Sport, Anatomy, Training For Fitness, Practical Sport, The Performer In Action, Promotion, Profiling Performance, Lifestyle, Injury, Mind and Performance, Leading Activities and Running a Sports Event.

BTEC Sport is assessed through external exams and coursework as well as practical work and activities.

You will study Anatomy and Physiology, Practical Sports Performance, Sports Leadership, Psychology, Professional Development, Fitness Testing and Fitness Training. By completing the course you will have developed knowledge and understanding of the sports industry whilst also developing the skills that you will require to study sport at a higher level or to pursue a career in sport.
